The Caser Foundation receives CERMI 2020 Social and Scientific Research Award, for its journal on “Acts of Social-Health Coordination” and in recognition of its work of dissecting valuable social knowledge in the social-health area and the evolution of this area in the field of health and current society.
The “Spanish Committee of Representatives of Persons with Disabilities” (CERMI) met on 23 September 2020 to review the initiatives, actions and the work of people or institutions, in areas such as labour inclusion, social and scientific research, universal accessibility, inclusive culture, social responsibility, activism and gender, among others, for people with disabilities and their families.
The journal “Acts of Social Coordination” is published twice a year and offers general articles on experiences of social health care or empirical or theoretical research related to the field of dependency, disability, integrated care, and the promotion of personal autonomy. As a journal of an informative nature, it aims to bring scientific knowledge to as many people as possible. It, therefore, relies on the principles of universal design and publishes the full magazine in “Easy Reading”, an initiative of the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) to provide cognitive accessibility and remove barriers to social participation for people with intellectual disabilities.
Director of the Caser Foundation Juan Sitges stated, “this award is a recognition for all professionals who make possible the publication of this journal, as well as an impetus and support to the entire scientific community and young researchers in the social-health area, who every day dedicate their efforts to the evolution of this in the field of health and current society.”
The award-winning categories have been: Labour Inclusion; Social and Scientific Research; Social action; Universal Accessibility; Inclusive Cultural and/or Sports Action; CERMI Women Foundation – Action for the benefit of women with disabilities; Media and Social Image of Disability; Best Autonomic and/or Local Action; Corporate Social Responsibility/Disability; Activist-Associative Career; Best practice of associative cooperation in the field of the third sector of disability, and Institutional.
This award demonstrates The Caser Foundation’s strong commitment to the social health sector as well as its objective of further progress in the development of actions to promote the health and well-being of the population.
